Abstract
We experienced a cases of 29-year old primiparous woman who suffered from acute pancreatitis with fatty liver, hyperlipidemia, and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). Although acute pancreatitis had been reported as one of the major and
serious complications of fatty liver and hyperlipidemia, their interrelationship is poorly understood because of the rarity and the fulminating nature of this disease. Hyperlipidemia has been interpreted as the etiological factor in acute
pancreatitis.
It is also known that circulating lipids increased during pregnancy as physiologic response. In most cases, fatty liver during prenancy present itself in the last trimester of pregnancy.
But, in this cases, she was early in second trimester. Though, the pathogenesis and etiology of acute pancreatitis in pregnancy are ambiguoug, physician must evaluate the level of triglycerides and cholesterol at pregnancy to prevent the
catastrophic
event of pancreatitis in pregnancy, and try to reduce their levels. The study of familial hyperlipidemia is also important in order to predict the possibility of pancreatitis. To minize the occurrence rate of acute pancreatitis, it is recommended
either
to reduce the level of lipid in food, or to go with the treatment of hyperlipidemia at pregnancy.
